About Us:
The Australian based Absent Friends was founded in 2018 by Kyle. Absent Friends was first known as Absent Apparel before changing names to fit aesthetically better….....
I ended up changing the name to Absent Friends because I don’t have many friends. I’m also realising that writing the About Us section in third person really makes the brand feel really corporate and professional, when as you can see it’s far from either of those, and you also probably don’t know who I am.
Really when it comes down to it, I started Absent Friends because I’ve always found it a struggle to find good quality alternative or refined edgy clothing brands. So, I thought ‘hey, why don’t I make my own’. It never really occurred to me to sell them until I got a couple of compliments on the first shirt I made for myself or for my friends, asking which shop I bought it from when I was back in high school. That’s pretty much it, fast forward a few designs later, and Absent Friends was born.
All of the designs are drawn by yours truly, and printed by a local brand right here in Australia. While any of the profits that I make off a sale pretty much go straight back into creating the next new design. My designs are inspired by music that I love, tattoo ideas or some sort of pop culture I'm obsessed with.
